RFID tags and labels come in a variety of options, from disposable RFID labels to robust high-temperature survival RFID tags. Some tags and labels even have temperature sensors that detect environmental temperature data and sends this data to the reader. RFID tags are either passive tags, which have no battery and are excited and powered by the reader/antenna signal, or active tags, which contain a battery, thus being self-powered.
